On the plus side, I was able to add 1 stud on the rear carb inlet and use a TR6 linkage set up...along with later GT6 carbs of course. I even got the engine running.
The downside, once the engine is warm, it makes all sorts of racket
I've not adjusted the valve lash yet, but you can hear knocking when coming up from idle. Once you get past idle it smooths. The idle is all over the place too. I suppose a tuneup is in order as well as checking timing, but my initial thought is just pull the engine & drop my GOOD GT6 engine in it. Guess the overdrive box from the 68 will go in at the same time.
The more i get into this car, them disappointed i'm becoming.

Re: GT6 lump in a MK1
If the knock disappears when the revs rise, I'd be tempted to look at the oil pressure first. If it is bearing wear, it's not too difficult to replace the shell bearings to gain some engine life!
Cheers,
Mike.

Perhaps I'll put an oil gauge on it and see what it's doing. Perhaps an oil change too. No telling what's in it

New twist...I sourced a 2500 engine as well as a 2500 inlet manifold
Do I have to use a 2000 sump and massage it a bit or can I get away with the 2500 sump and shim the engine up a bit?
