Where have you plumbed the servo into, the airbox?

My main problem is that my local engine machine workshop is entirely staffed by miserable, unhelpful, rip off w**k**s!

Need to find some one better, or I'm going to struggle.

Thats what I used - just araldited a brass fitting into the tube on the plenum log usually used for the engine breather - works fine. I used the other tube (idle air on a PI) for the MAP sensor. Very steady reading - I used the tube closest to the throttle body for MAP so it gets the quickest reaction - probably unnecessary

Hello Andy,

if you are going the route of cutting down the boss, it doesn't need to be machined, a few minutes with a hacksaw will do it. Use a new 14 tpi blade and it'll be easy. Dress with a file afterwards.

You don't even need to cut the tops of square. In fact you only really need a tiny slice diagonally off the side.

Block off the holes with grub screws (though I cannot find any 5/8 size) or do as I am doing and bung them up with quiksteel stuff.

I used a erm  Belt sander -- then used a cut down bolt 1/2 or 9/16 UNF? loctited into the holes and filed as blanking plugs.

Without reading these posts, I'd probably used a angle grinder, so I think a belt sander is quite restrained! :D

Did it work?

Hello Andy,

the problem with an angle grinder or even a belt sander is that the conventional abrasives don't work too well with aluminium and clog quite quickly.

P40 on a belt sander used on floor boards was quite sufficient and actually quite restrained. Finished off with a file - you can't see anything under the fuel rail anyway.

Hello Andy,

my reference was basically that the commonly available abrasives don't work well on aluminium and so are relatively ineffective. Certainly the coarser grits don't clog quite as quickly, so as to hinder their removal capacity.
