I love the simplicity of the whole EDIS system - I had my car running on carbs with the EDIS just hooked up the battery (no ECU) and it idled beautifully at 10 BTDC (limp home)
As this car is my daily driver, with no back up, I can't have it off the road for too long!

I'll install the EDIS first, but can I still use the car in limp home mode? I may need to drive it like this for a week :? , will I damage anything, I understand I won't any advance/retard, but what else to worry about?

Or should I do the install so I can switch between the distributor and EDIS, I'm planning on using the space made by removing the coil and distributor for the MS install.

Andy,

You can fit all of the MegaSquirt system without injection very easily and run it on this.

Though mine is still not 100% tested I see no reason to use EDIS when you can have it all in one box— you won't be able to drive it if your MegaSquirt fails anyway unless you carry a set of carbs in the boot.

I wouldn't drive it in limp home mode.

Wire up all the Edis6, coil pack and crank sensor etc and hotwire it with 12v to check it all works - check timing is 10BTDC - then it is ready to be connected to Megasquirt (two wires) but you can run on your dizzy until you are ready to use it.

It'd be great if somebody could write a step-by-step article on EFi conversions for SIXappeal. Having read this thread and various others on a variety of sites, I kind of get the general gist of it, but it would be great to have it all in one place, with pictures. A big job I know.......
