Hello Calorian,
strut braces were modifications to mainly rally cars as hard landings put a lot of strain on the strut tops, forcing them inwards. Obviously many hard landings would weaken and distort the shell, hence the brace to stabilise the bodyshell.
I don't believe that they enhance roadholdng or handling and generally I don't remember seeing them fitted to circuit cars?
