Yes I had notices that the front panel had been cut significantly... Looks like it was to rehouse the radiator, and unlike the M20 engine, the M30 has a front mounted dizzy too. I did wonder whether there was sufficient clearance if the coolant hoses were custom made to modify this area restoring some of the rigidity, instead of just leaving the big cut out. I can understand why the rack would have to been moved, as the steering mech on most BMW's of this era is towards the back of the engine bay and not the front like on the 2500. Certainly the case on my 5 series... horribly complicated steering box and multi link setup - there are a total including those on the antiroll bar drop links of 14 ball joints at the front alone.

The other thing I've just noticed is that there doesnt seem to any air filter. Theres nothing obvious hanging off the end of the AFM anyway, which wouldnt do the engine life any favours.
