Hi alan. Wont be going for that front end as in steering go,s lite at that speed need something to keep the front end down  :!:

regards ken[/quote]

Ken,tried a Dolly Sprint front spoiler? Had one on my last Mk1,used to draw the suspension right down if I was going, when I stopped, had to creep forward &steer lock to lock and everything jumped back to ride height!Incredible, fitted well, cheap, unbreakable & worked!Cheers,Bill.

Apparently Tony Carlow-Bunton ( if that is the spelling ) hit 152mph in his Mk 1 - timed at Brands Hatch; and featured on front cover of six appeal 15 ish years ago. He sold his car a few years ago, via dealer in the glossy classic mags asking £7500 I think. Highly modified but a bit unreliable. Supposedly gave out 260 + bhp although me and a top TR6 specialist thought it unlikely to be more than 210. That’s the trouble with an imaginative dyno operator. Carlow-Bunton kept his business very quiet – apparently building engines for race TR6. I could never get to speak to him, and assumed he would never give away any of his secrets. My friend managed to wreck the diff on his BMW. Triumph diffs are very strong. Drive shaft’s not so; but even these will only fail if tramping on racing starts. If you are not gaining a LSD or putting out 200 bhp; why bother. A Triumph 3.45 diff will give lazy cruising - can be calculated by counting the number of turns the prop makes while turning a rear wheel once ( block the other ). Steve Knight 4336

How's your new setup doing
Yes very impressed with the new setup, handles very well, on soft the car feels like a standard car. I have been running at about 22 clicks on the front and 14 on the rear, (28 clicks total adjustment 0 = soft 28 hard) car feels very tight and precise in the corners. Im getting 4 new yoko tyres fitted on Saturday too 185 wide, so a bit wider than standard.

Hello Steve,

I remember reading an article in a magazine about Tony C.B.' MK 1, and he radically machined the block and sleeved it. with the sleeves being welded in. I presume he was aiming for a square or oversquare engine. I understand that it was a bit troublesome. I don't remember what he did in the crank department though?

Nice setup owen , I have 19 on the front and 26 on the back , you don't get understeer like that , but the back is sensitive then , I think it may go on soft for cruzing

I'll just say I have a printout for 206 BHP at the flywheel from my NA 2.5. It is 'worked' on though. HS 8's should do more...

Okay we've talked about BMW rear end swaps for the 2500, but how about BMW front end swaps?

Possibly a more cost effective big power route, and arguably more reliable?

Anyone know this car?

This car is situated a couple of miles from Drybrook where we had the National, and about 10 minutes from us. Out of interest I have contacted the guy to see if I can have a look at it and take some more pics - not that I would go down this route because I prefer to stay Triumph (2.5PI upgrade) or had at one time considered BL (3.9 Rover V8).

Hello Gavin,

there was a discussion on the Club Triumph website about this car and a link to some pictures.

Two things stood out, he had relocated the steering rack significantly lower than originally installed and the bonnet hinge panel had been cut away in the centre. Both of those spelt trouble to me and I hate to think of the effect on the steering and the front end rigidity, a great feature of the Triumph as built.
