Does anyone happen to know the diameter of the air intakes on the pi? I\'ve just done a quick eyeball with a 1981 Adam Ant rule (!) and it looks like 45mm but I reckon \"accuracy\" this way is +- 1.5mm.
I was wondering if air intake trumpets for Weber 45s would fit...
Cheers, Ken.

Hello Ken,
are you refering to the manifold intake where the rubber \'log\' couplers slide onto?  Are you aware that the log already has trumpets inside?

Hi Alec - yes I am aware of that, but I didn\'t want to ruin my \"log\" by cutting it up. I did have a spare but someone had already made a hash of the thing by taking a cutting disc to it. The thing is I\'ve test driven the car to check throttle setup *without* the log and the intake noise is glorious. Ideally I\'d like to leave the intakes open but with a modicum of dust filtering. Longer intake trumpets will let me fit a generic foam racing filter.
Cheers, Ken.

Hello Ken,
OK, I understand, I\'ve also driven mine without the log and it is very attractive.
Just had a quick look and I haven\'t room to get my vernier calipers on the stubs, the log outlet stubs, however, are just under 50mm OD.
Looks as though you will have to take it off to get an accurate measurement.
regards,
Alec

B*gger! That\'s trumpets for Weber 45 s ruled out then! Anyone got a tatty secondhand \"log\" they\'d part with for peanuts?
Thanks Alec - all the best.

Does anyone sell the trumpets for Lucas PI (at any price?) or is it a case of make your own?

I\'m pretty sure it\'s a case of \"make your own\". I approached a company ( I forget the name) that purported to specialise in one-offs of this type, but after a couple of communications they lost interest.
Unfortunately, unlike many classic car enthusiasts, I *am* on a budget and brand new trumpets (if the size were available) would be too expensive to consider for a couple of bhp and a great noise.
Cheers, Ken.

I know what you mean but I have been making enquiries about getting small components made - it\'s surprised me how reasonable some of the costs are if you can get the right balance of quantity and cost. With eBay offering a global marketplace it does seem doing such things could be viable - they wouldn\'t be cheap but then I doubt they\'d be too expensive either. I\'ll put it on the list :-)

Hello Ken,
I had to remove my air manifold to lubricate my steering U|J\'s as they were tightening up.
The stub OD on the manifold is 1.875\" which is a smidgin under 48 mm. So try looking for 48 DCOE Weber intakes.
regards,
Alec
