There is a fuel smell inside my 2000 but not in the boot. is the tank in the car or the boot?

The tank is situated behind the rear seat. Pull out the rear seat (the back part) and check the rubber breather pipes are properly secured and fully tightened.
Best of luck!

In the 80s my Dad's first 2000 always used to smell of petrol. I don't think he ever resolved it!

Also it doesn't help if the tank is full right to the top. This can sometimes cause the fuel to self-syphon from the tank breather vent, especially when parked on a camber.

Just a pointer. The filler neck hose is no longer available.
