Hi Guys

Must be getting old but I can\'t face another whole winter with no heater in my Mk2. The control valve appears to be the culprit - can this be replaced in situ or am I facing a major dismantling operation?

Best wishes

We had the same problem with a Mk11. It was the heater valve. Took a lot of time and heat / WD40. Eventually we hacksawed a large slot right across it and turned it with a huge screwdriver. Still must be easier than removing the heater box though.
U can check if it is the heater valve by following the heater pipes. The warmth stopped just before the valve on ours as the valve was seized closed. Good luck!

Thanks very much for that - does sound better than taking everything apart. I\'ll give it a try.
All the best

Hello Trevan

I had exactly the same thing on my MK2 - the heater valve had seized completely. I used a bit of heat but be careful because I managed to unsolder the valve housing from the heater element, I thren had to take the lot out of the car to repair it!!
Regards,  Brian

Hope the above works!
To take the heater out the WHOLE dashboard has to come out and the centre console. It is a nightmare of a job!
Hope you fix it!

Hi
Haven\'t had the time or the guts to give this a go yet but I\'m sure at some point in the next week or so I\'ll get so fed up with turkey sandwiches that I\'ll fancy hanging upside down in the front footwell. Figured it would be a big job to take the heater out - it\'s why I\'ve shivered through the last 10 winters! Will keep you all posted.
All the best
Trevan
