I dont know and I can not figure out why I got gasifyed
while driving. Its horrible.....
I got a new exhaust (standart)from Rimmer (it is sealed and tight) !!
I checked the bootseals (left a blanked in the trunk while
driving) but no gassmell !!
Allmost no difference if Window open of not (might be a little
worse when window open - but are 2500 Pi drivers not allowed
to open window while driving ??
Manifold is thight too, no gas form enginebay while standing.
Any idea ?

Do you mean you got an overpowering petrol smell in the car, or you had exhaust fumes entering the car?

If petrol I would check all your connections in the engine bay, althougth if theres a leak in the boot it can still be smelt.

Exhaust gasses in the car, and getting worse with window open suggest that you must have either an iffy seal on part of your exhaust near the engine or perhaps you have a cracked manifold??

Just reading your post again, it could be your manifold needs a new gasket.

If it is worse when the window is open then check the rubber gear lever boot (under the black trim)

when this goes (or is not fitted right) with a window open it draws fumes up from the engine/gearbox area into the car.

On a PI, if it a petrol smell, usually a sign of the fuel pump main rear seal needing replacing.

Or where the sender unit is fitted in the side of the petrol tank, remove the rear upright boot trim to check this.

Or pin holed petrol tank leaks...............I had this on my mk1 pi and petrol smell was horrible and used give me an headache.As stated the holes in the tank were pin holes but were enough to release fumes
