Re: Timing engine.
if you cant reduce the idle on CDSE or their variants then i suspect the temperature compensators are open when shuld be closed the 0 rings that seal them to the main body disintegrate the small plunger should be closed at normal temperatures the plunger is a simple job and must be pressured on its ...

Re: Timing engine.
There should be little difference between static and strobe at slow idle less than 600rpm And whilst the vac capsule should not be doing anything its best disconnected. wild diferences are really showing the centrifugal is actually advancing perhaps too early amd needs new springs fitting if you rea...

Re: Stromberg CDSE fast idle setting
one thing you need to check on cdse is the temperature compensators these small bimetal operated valves can when old be open when they must be shut, take them off the, small plunger should at normal operating be seated in the end of the cast body, if the plunger is off its seat , do the small nut up...

Re: Vacuum advance questions
yes its vacuum is developed from around the throttle plate position and nothing to do with manifold vacuum
as alec says its a economy device that advances the spark mainly when cruising
has no real effect on performance , but gains about 4mpg on a run.

Re: Poor running - wrong coil?
Agree with 12v supplying a 1.5 ohm balasted coil you effectively double the HT and leads and plugs will give out. 12v coil primery is 3 ohms , to aid the confusion some coils are for a 6v 1.5 ohm balasted system but are marked as 12v (being the base car voltage) and bypassing the ballast to operate ...
