Re: cut-outs after reving above 4500rpm
I think we are all at a loss, made even harder to diagnose distantly..... Relative to the conclusions you have arrived at, as Alec previously suggested, speaking to Burlen Fuels or any other SU specialist may be your only option, as you need a conversation with someone who actually has expertise in ...

Re: cut-outs after reving above 4500rpm
sorry for my late reply. some months ago a had a longer motorway trip and was wondering why i had no cutouts when driving home at night with a quite high speed and constant revs around 4500rpm....next morning it was clear...the choke was still slightly pulled out... I'm intrigued about what speed t...

Re: cut-outs after reving above 4500rpm
Looking back through your replies, you mention BDN needles, and in a later reply BDM. Is this correct, or a typing error? I referred to BDM needles in my otherwise standard S, which have been great, so I just wondered....? You state your car doesn't have butterflies fitted - it must have, or are you...

Re: Genuine help from you experts needed!!
Hi Nige, that is sounding a bit more positive! Ideally, you possibly should try to find an 'old school' auto transmission place that have experience of BW's. There is one in Preston that looked at a 2500S auto box owned by a Register member from Stoke on Trent, and he was very pleased with the resul...

Re: Genuine help from you experts needed!!
By the sounds of it, you have checked / re checked everything ignition / engine/ fuel related, so you should be reasonably confident that everything is 100% in that department. You say you have suspected the auto box from the start - I recollect there are some static and mobile checks that you can c...

Re: Genuine help from you experts needed!!
So after the tweaks that were done last week, which included another new set of NGK's, dizzy cap and black silicone leads- all from CW, we ended up leaving all the original air intake as stock apart fom removing original air filter from the box and modifying a K&N to fit tightly into said box to ho...

Re: Carbodies - just how much did they do?
A bit of Googling brought this quite interesting and probably relevant discussion.... https://www.triumphexp.com/forum/spitfires-list-archive.16/tag-found-in-spit-1500.1004312/ Considering the company was based at the Cambro Works, Exhall at Coventry, the likelihood that it is one of the same is pro...

Re: Genuine help from you experts needed!!
Mine are all standard with no performance mods.....but irrespective of whether they auto or manual, I find that that they are comfortable at 60 - 65 mph, although my manual S is more than happy at 70mph. My Mk1 2000 auto was also purring at 70mph, but my Mk1 2000 (manual o'drive) is happier at 60 -7...

Re: Other Barb/Innsbruck forum
It was originally a breakaway club that started following a certain Register member who left following some alleged indiscretions. Some members followed this member to the Owner Club. It only had a few conscientious members before the club ceased to be several years ago. Their members were offered t...

Re: Wanted MK1 pi Trans cooler
What was specific about a Mk1 PI auto transmission oil cooler that made it different from the 2000 and / or the Mk2 PI?
Why won't a Mk2 PI transmission oil cooler fit a Mk1 PI?
Just asking - curious really!
