Re: Overdrive ID
1975 parts book only shows UKC0800 as a recon J type OD unit, my earlier parts manuals only show the A type OD box.

Re: Poor braking
The most effective way of getting better brakes is to use decent pads especially on an auto. I use Mintex 1144 pads. Even the MoT man was surprised how well they performed.

Re: Electronic ignition module
It depends on if you have early or late instruments. Later instruments should not be affected, but the early ones are. The only electronic ignition system I have found that does not mess up the rev counter is the Aldon Ignitor system from Pertronix. Available from CW, Distributor Doctor and others. ...

Re: Seat Belt question

Re: Kienzle time clocks which went in what?
Many thanks to Graham, we can now say with certainty that the pre facelift Mk2 cars had clocks with a blue backlight like the Jaguar. Classy of course. I now have a fully working Smiths clock with a black bezel back in my PI. Fantastic!

Re: Triumph 6 cylinder engine death rattle - please explain
The rattle is the big end bearings knocking. This is commonly heard on start up especially on cars that have nor had a spin on oil filter conversion. The original design allows oil to flow back to the sump and therefore on start up the big end bearings do not have any oil until the oil pump fills up...

Re: Strut shims
Rule of thumb is to put it back as you found it especially as you sate that the geometry was fine beforehand. You are lucky any are still there! Usually they are not noticed when changing struts and are lost.
