Re: Synthetic oil
Exactly. This reflects my experience. Sellers are cutting back on this service like everything else. Oh we do not have the staff, we have problems with our partners, it costs too much, you will have to pay a service charge (a very high one.) and, and. I have just had 2 cars at the garage for the yea...

Re: Synthetic oil
I am sure we ould find a cheaper oil but the basic problems are still there. 50 quid + filter + old oil disposel charge + labour. A garage normally must do it, as oneself cannot get rid of the old oil.One used to give it back to the seller but now days they have stopped taking it back. There are dis...

Re: Synthetic oil
Good Classic car oil e.g. Castral costs about 50 quid + filter + old oil disposel charge + labour. A garage normally must do it, as oneself cannot get rid of the old oil. Environmental problems. If you get caught throwing it away the courts make it very expensive.

Re: Synthetic oil
I won't go into the details but a 10 quid part from Moss or Rimmers cost a fixed postage cost irrespective of site or weight + customs + a charge from the logistic firm to pay the duty. So perhaps 30+ quid or more.

Re: Synthetic oil
Interesting thoughts. On my old Tr6 I used cheap reconditioned oil (Does not exist any more) but did several changes per year. There was no visable disadvantage. It seemed that the important thing was to make regular oil changes. After about 200,000 Km, I was still getting 600 miles to 1 Litre of oi...
