Re: Lifting car for engine removal - how does everyone do it?
That's my plan at this stage - the box is out so the engine can just come out from the top. I had intended to reinstall in the reverse order (i.e. engine in from above, box in from below) but thought I should at least explore the possibility of mating tho two out of the car and installing from below...

Lifting car for engine removal - how does everyone do it?
Just after people's thoughts as to how to raise the car high enough at the front to refit the engine and box from below. By my reckoning the front valance will need to be a minimum of 700mm off of the floor for the engine to slide under with the head on. I guess taking the head and studs off would b...

Getting engine onto stand
I haven't finished removing my engine yet so this is a bit preemptive but what's the best way of securing it to an engine stand? Presumably the existing bellhousing bolts will be too short and I'll need to source some longer high tensile ones? Any other tips? Can I just mount using any of the bellho...

Thoughts on engine refresh
I am swapping out the existing 2.5 lump from my 2500S with a replacement engine I have from a parts car - the existing engine isn't in great health, it knocks quite a bit on startup (I know lots do) and when I bought the car (saved from a breakers yard bearing in mind so I wasn't expecting perfectio...

Front suspension overhaul
I'm after some recommendations relating to overhauling the front suspension on my 2500S on a bit of a tight budget. I've been having a good prod over the car lately and I think I need to do a bit of a strip down - a lot of the bushes look to be very perished, the ARB rattles around in its mountings,...

Re: Engine removal and PAS
I didn't find it too bad last time - it wasn't super easy but with a couple of extensions and some UJs they didn't put up too much of a fight. Plus my skinny wrists and arms worked to my advantage for once!

Re: Engine removal and PAS
Cheers johnnydog, that was what I was hoping for. I had some troubles with the flywheel catching on the gearbox tunnel/bulkhead too but I'm thinking this time round I'll just whip off the clutch and flywheel from underneath after I've removed the gearbox. I think from memory there are a couple of st...

Engine removal and PAS
I'm planning on swapping the engine in my 2500S for a better 2.5 unit which I salvaged from my TC. I know the 'correct' method is to drop the engine and gearbox as one unit from underneath but as I'll be working alone my plan was to remove the gearbox first from underneath the car (I've done this be...
