yes support car on stands and drop the suspension crossmember , pull it down as low as it will go
need to release steering coupling from rack and remove dipstick and look out for any brake pipe clips
and sump is then removable on car.

In my wsm it says assemble the sleeve and cup to the ball to get 0.002" end float select shims to achieve this then add the spring and track rod

Clifford, thats the problem, the shims should be rings not solid discs, its been repaired
at some time with the wrong type of shim they must have a hole for the spring to
fit through and then it loads the cup properly

rimmers sale shows a Pas pulley for peanuts ,
but think it says press on .
I got all my kit from CW , and a front plate at rimmers, as trying to modify the orig
with limited space didnt seem a good option at the time
you will need the large TRE and steering arms to suit.

the manual is not that clear but to me the spring should pass through the shims and load the cup or as you say its doing nothing
could it be the bore of the shims fitted too small ???

Cant help on this when I got my alpha seats there was included the alpha centre console
Cubby box, drink holder leather gator et , it looked a good idea but nothing fitted anywhere and ended up the tip so dont get an alpha one

I rebuilt my mk2 seats with mixed results do not separate the old foam from the seat cover its a dunlop pillow type foam glued by triumph to everything , it will be a right mess if you remove it found that the hard way swap covers , use new diaphragm if its needed, but to re foam just add some extra...
