Re: Engine upgrade
I wouldn't have thought that 1/4 cwt (28lbs) would make that much different to the cars performance - its only about 12.5 kgs if my maths are correct? An average adult is approx 80 - 90 kgs, so I'm wondering if your problem lies elsewhere. Have you gone through all the usual checks, compression, sta...

Re: Front wheel camber
An extract from a Stag manual regarding the assembly of the steeringbrack, and more importantly to this topic, the centralising of the rack, which equally applies to the 2000 / 2500.

Re: mk2 subframe mountings
Here is a picture from CW's website to give you a clearer idea of the shim relative to their fitment.

Re: mk2 subframe mountings
Further to Forkies post, the shims are one piece per side spanning both bolts, and have two open ended slots in them. To fit them, the two bolts from the shackles through the box sections only have to be loosened to slide the shim/s in rather than having to remove each individual bolt to fit them wh...

Re: mk2 subframe mountings
If you think it is in the driveline, I would undo the fixed flange end of the propshaft and turn it through 180 degrees. Has it been replaced the same way as it came off relative to sliding joint? There has been previous discussions on here as to which way round is the best to fit them. Removal of t...

Re: Front wheel camber
Centralising the rack also ensures the correct self cancelling of the indicator stalk. Not necessarily. I had a Stag where every single component of the system had been incorrectly set up. The upper part of the column with the self-cancelling mechanism had been misaligned at one of the joints conne...

Re: mk2 subframe mountings
I saw there was a Left and Right on the SS straps, and I did try them both ways round, but wasn't happy with their fit. Just fortunate I had some nos steel ones 'in stock'!

Re: Front wheel camber
Without reading back, I'm not certain what work has been done on the front suspension and steering components, but I would be tempted to centralise the rack before your visit. If the steering wheel has been off previously, there is no guarantee that the rack is centralised with the steering wheel in...

Re: mk2 subframe mountings
I actually had a new pair of stainless anti-vibration straps that I intended fitting. When I offered them up to the car, the angle of each end of the strap didn't sit 'square' to the bush or the floor. I had a pair of brand new 'old stock' steel BL straps and they fitted perfectly. And I agree with ...

Re: Front wheel camber
All in all, if it drives ok, with no noticeable pulling, or wandering and no tyre scrubbing, I would suggest that it probably isn't that far out. If you replaced the shims as they came out, and it appears not to have been messed about with previously, then it probably won't need major adjustment. Ha...
