Re: Petrol Injection rebuild
Hello Ian 3781, it does takle a lot of cranking to get fuel to the injectors and remove all the air. The workshop manual states that when reconnecting an empty system that a fully charged battery is required. While 80 psi is low it should be sufficient to get fuel into the cylinders, when it fires t...

Re: Fuel Mixture
Hello John, the two turns is an arbitary setting, i.e. a starting point, and should be adjusted to get the right setting. That said it shouldn't be far away from ideal. Presumably your air cleaner element is clean also as this affects the mixture. When you have got the mixture where you want it, try...

Re: Coil confusion
Hello Forkie, I missed your post of the 4th August so did not reply, sorry. You are going the wrong way, you need to set to the lowest resistance scale available, it may be that it is shown as 0 to 200 kilohms. Meters vary in their dials so I can't be specific, and many are multi ranging automatical...

Hello Richard,
I doubt very much that you will feel the difference. Personally i would not worry about it.

Hello Johny,
brake discs are not steel but cast iron, a more stable material when heated.
I understood that the high rate of wear these days are because the pads are no longer made of asbestos and the modern brake pads are more abrasive?

Hello Forkie,
I'm not familiar with that particular multimeter, but it must be set on the very lowest ohms setting. 200K is a high resistance and I suspect is the wrong setting?

Re: Coil confusion
Hello Forkie, using a multimeter, I take it on the correct ohms scale (Not Kohm for instance) there should be a measurement between positive and negative terminals. That is the primary circuit (A tip, when doing resistance measurement short both leads together which should read zero, if not that has...

Hello Joe,
is there any sign of the cross member contacting the body. The reason I ask is that later cars had a different arrangement of mountings due to a change in the. nose piece dimensions. The later cars had an extra differential rubber mounting spacer I seem to remember?

Hello Forkie,
the resistance measurement should be the primary winding i.e. between + and + .
I don't understand why you say that you can only do the primary to secondary?

Re: Coil confusion
Hello Forkie, later cars had a resistance wire incorporated in the loom, (white pink possibly from memory) rather than the rectangular ceramic reistor . There will also be a second small wire coming from the starter motoor if your car is a ballast ignition one? I'm sure someone else will be along wi...
