Re: Coolant hoses - to goo or not to goo?
Chris - Norma Torro are still sold. The Torro and other Norma hose clips are advertised on eBay for instance, but they can be a bit expensive. You could try filling the pits with an epoxy resin such as Araldite or Devcon. I used Devcon 'Plastic Steel' to build up a very badly corroded water connecti...

Re: Coolant hoses - to goo or not to goo?
Pete, I'm very surprised that a truck maker should need to use a sealant from new. Their engines may not be affected by Bar's Leaks but I believe it could restrict or block the very small ports and passages in the coolant circuit and/or heater core in some modern car engines. If it is used at all, i...

Pictures from 1987 National Rally nr Burford
Those of you afflicted with membership of Facebook may like to see some photographs taken at the Register's 1987 National Rally at Cotswold Wildlife Park. They are my son's and I believe he uploaded them to the Triumph 2000 enthusiasts page.

February 2016 SIXappeal
I received the latest SIXappeal this afternoon. I've read most of it already, and completed the crossword as well! It's a shame the magazine needed to be reduced to 40 pages for this issue, but that's 40 A4-size pages filled with interesting articles and superb photographs, so not at all bad. Qualit...

Re: Spotted!!
I signed up to Facebook this morning so as to see what it offered. I found it irritating and invasive from the start, especially in gaining automatic access to my email address book. It recommended four of my email contacts as 'friends', and I allowed this to happen before realising that I had no i...

Re: Front/Rear Spring Choices
An interesting question, Phil, and I've been eagerly awaiting the answers that are yet to come! I know very little about spring alternatives. Mine are the original standard ones so far as I can recall, and I have to take care not to load the rear end too much. The ride is so good that I hesitate to ...

Re: Damaged ring gear - Auto
Looking at the flexplate, it appears to have four mounting bolts with a fifth hole presumably for a locating dowel or similar, so would drilling another hole for this dowel and rotating the flexplate by 90, 180, or 270 degrees help by putting a previously lightly used area of the the ring gear to w...

Re: Damaged ring gear - Auto
<snip>So do you think changing the starter for a Hi-Torque one would be worth a gamble against dropping the 'box? Sorry, I have absolutely no idea if a Hi-Torque starter would help delay the need to drop the box, but it seems a very expensive alternative in any case. I doubt if you need a new start...
