Mk1 crank is longer at the rear and hence you can use the Mk1 flywheel which can be considerably lightened... same kind of thing as MK1 PI -v- Mk2 In theory you could try the very early Mk1 crank (smaller /wider bearings) but then you need to stick with the Mk1 block from about 1966 to get the bigge...

Alan, From my experience, the S estate should have harder 130 Lb springs rather than the Zebedee type S saloon springs... Does anyone know when Triumph ceased fitting crossdrilled crankshafts to Mk2 PI\'s??? My engine no. is MG 8179 HE and I wondered if it still has the shorter version of the TR5 / Mk1 Pi crank.
