Re: Heater refurb
The Mk2 heater is usually a pretty good unit that provides plenty of heat. The usual suspect is the control valve on the side of the unit in the drivers footwell as mentioned before. Make sure it is in the fully open position and flush both ways using the stubs that go through the bulkhead as mentio...

Re: Adjustable Steering
All Mk2 had adjustable steering columns. In the March 1975 parts Catalogue it is all on page 22 - 82 under Body and Fittings, Steering Column Supports. It is unlikely that this is your problem, usually the bearings in the upper column.

Sounds like you had a great time. Reminds me of our trip in the PI in 2019 where we toured as far as the Loire 5 up!

Have had this before. What plugs are you using? I used NGK plugs for years, then changed to Denso plugs. Problem solved and never come back!

An S has the resistor wire built into the loom, and is as Alec states, white/pink. You need the 6v coil, the system runs on 6v when running hence the resistor wire. When sta...

Re: Poor braking
Forkie, on a manual car going down a hill, you can go down the gearbox using engine braking to assist slowing the car down. An auto, whilst you can move the selector to do this, most people just leave the car in D. Therefore the brakes get more of a hammering. I know of a few occasions that people h...

Re: Radiator caps
Mk1 cars have smaller head studs and are therefore only able to be torqued down to a lesser degree than later engines with larger studs. Therefore the Mk1 must use the 7lb cap or you risk blowing the head gasket.

Re: Stag front brakes
Dual line brakes were available on CKD built cars. Having towed for many years with a big Triumph, I have found the brakes are well up to the task. If you wish to go down the tandem route, what about this https://www.chriswitor.com/proddetail.php?prod=518722 Could be worth talking to Chris.
