Hello Forkie,
the resistance measurement should be the primary winding i.e. between + and + .
I don't understand why you say that you can only do the primary to secondary?

Re: Coil confusion
Hello Forkie, later cars had a resistance wire incorporated in the loom, (white pink possibly from memory) rather than the rectangular ceramic reistor . There will also be a second small wire coming from the starter motoor if your car is a ballast ignition one? I'm sure someone else will be along wi...

Re: Radiator caps
hello Jeffrey, a higher cap pressure allows a system to run hotter which is more efficient but the temperature at which an engine runs is controlled by the thermostat. If it is overheating there must be a problem, and most common I would say is a blocked radiator? A high pressure cap only delays the...

Hello Forkie,
it sounds to me as if the engine needs a good tune?
It shouldn't feel lethargic as you put it it.

Re: Overdrive ID
Hello Toprque2me, my parts book, (RTC9064/A August 1975) shows 313241 as being an overdrive (J Type) for a 2.5 P.I., 313239 for a 2000, and RKC0155 for a 2.5 carburettor model. Differences may be as little as the number of internal springs for the clutch? Without checking the workshop manual I don't...

Re: Poor braking
Hello G15, one problem which your method does not address is that if there is corrosion inside the caliper it won't be found if the pistons are not removed. While it can be messy and sometimes difficult to do it does give a better idea of the internal condition. Incidentally I have recently dismantl...

Hello Richard,
I used some 2.4mm diameter arc welding rod to make up one as per the workshop manual and attach it to the handle of the universal windscreen fitting kit you illustrate.

Re: Poor braking
Hello Steve, can you describe in a little more detail the performance of the brakes. Does it pull up in a straight line, is the pedal hard and need a lot of pressure? I think I would look at the front cylinders in case one or more pistons are stuck, you should be able to lever the pads back from the...

Re: Engine popping and missing untill warm
Hello Roscoe,
how can it be a fuel pressure problem if only cylinders one and two are affected, it surely is not a general problem but one limited to those cylinders?
What are the spark plugs like, wet or dry for instance?

Re: Engine popping and missing untill warm
Hello Roscoe, try swapping leads one and two in case the firing order is mixed up, unlikely but simple and quick to check. I take it you have a pulse in each injector line? Similarly incorrect order of the fuel lines to one and two injector.? If you have a strobe light check to see if one and two ar...
