Wheel bearing spinning on stub axle
Am swapping out my old and gunked up front wheel bearings - the car's not seen the road in 10 years or so, so it seems like a good precaution. The stub axles seem ok, with minor wear marks where the bearings sit but nothing too significant - however, the inner bearing spins slightly on the stub axle...

Re: Oil in coolant - head gasket?
Interestingly, I found the below on the underside of my bonnet: https://i.imgur.com/DtgIGorl.jpg According to Google it's a "film–forming corrosion inhibitor and scale suppressant" meant for diesel machinery cooling systems. I wonder if this explains the weird, slightly oily nature of the coolant I ...

Re: Bottom radiator hose - PAS cars
Cheers all - the hose has been sliced and spliced and fits a treat.
A little bit fiddly to fit but I got there in the end. Sadly I'll have to do this all over again when my stainless pipe is delivered from the UK...

Bottom radiator hose - PAS cars
The 2500s with power steering (like mine) use a different bottom radiator hose arrangement than the cars with manual steering – instead of a single hose there are two shorter hoses which are connected by a metal pipe. This arrangement prevents the hose from chafing on the water pump pulley. Does any...

Re: Metal coolant return pipe
Cheers all, pipe replaced with no dramas. I needed to change it as whilst I was replacing my heater hoses the rear T off of the pipe just crumbled off. I presume it was only the fact that my heater core was pretty silted up therefore reducing (or almost stopping) flow that prevented it from blowing ...

Metal coolant return pipe
The one that runs for the length of the block behind the manifold.
I presume there's no quick way of getting it off without removing the manifolds?

Re: Oil in coolant - head gasket?
I always use coolant but sadly the previous owner wasn't quite so fussy...
Hopefully things aren't too corroded in there, I'm not sure how long it's been in this state but time will tell...

Re: Oil in coolant - head gasket?
Cheers for the replies - I was also leaning towards leaving it in the short term and monitoring the situation, especially as I have a classic car show I'd like to attend on 10th Feb which doesn't leave a huge amount of time to get the parts and get the job done. The sludge that I'm getting out of th...

Oil in coolant - head gasket?
This morning I started flushing the cooling system on my 1977 2500S - on draining the system the coolant was brown and seemed to be a bit oily (it had a sheen on top of it and left brown sludgy/oily tide marks on the side of the pan I was draining it in to). Aside from the slight possibility that a ...

Setting carbs and timing - what sequence to follow?
I’m sure I read a post on a Triumph-related forum a while ago that had a really good guide to setting up the carbs and timing but sadly I can’t find it now. It wasn’t necessarily about the specific details of each process but the sequence in which they should be undertaken and the relationship which...
