Re: What a plonker!
Dim rear lights might mean you've done something to the night dimming relay if you haven't already disconnected it.

Re: Brake Master Cylinder [1968 2000 mk1]
Hi Alec, I'm glad I'm not the only one peeved with the ineffectiveness of the washer jets. I retained the single jets each side but fitted two pumps from the original single washer bottle with a separate hose from each pump to each jet, the theory being if one blocks slightly I don't get preferentia...

Re: new MK1 WHEELS
I guess it's the sort of thing people don't need very often. I binned a set of perfectly useable Mk2 steelies a couple of years ago as no one wanted them. I'm sure someone on here will have a Mk1 wheel (or a full set of Mk2 which are pretty similar just a smidge wider) surplus to requirements, eithe...

Re: Whatever happened to.......?
Hi Ted, I think you've got your types slightly wrong. There are three types but I'm pretty sure the early Mk1 flat type is the thick one and later Mk1 and early Mk2 use the thinner one. The early thick type is open at the top and the sides are longer to hook into the pillar whereas both later types ...

Re: Silicone/Braided water hoses
Most of the hoses are the same Mk1 and Mk2, the only ones I can think of that are different are the heater hoses (Mk1 ones are much longer) and the bottom radiator hose if you have power steering (would be simple enough to just cut the middle section out and replace with the steel bit if you have po...

Re: 2000 for sale carand classic
There's a lot of nice cars around, but not so many bargains as a few years ago. It seems values are definitely rising. I think that Cactus one with the white wall tyres has been around for a while and it looks a nice enough car, although I'm suspicious of the "totally original" and "perfect shut lin...

Re: Hazard switch location and bezel
With a pre-face-lift car, my suggestion would be remove the dash dimmer (just link it out, the dash is dim enough on full power!) and enlarge and re-use the hole for the hazard switch. The hazard switch position on a face-lift car is in the middle below the warning light cluster, which albeit nicely...

Re: Spin-on oil filters in Oz
I've got a UFI oil filter, filter code 23.138.00, which is an equivalent to the Manner W723/3 etc. Obviously I'm not in Australia, but it's another part number to try. Looking at the list of what it's supposed to fit it seems to be mostly tractors and plant fitted with Perkins diesels.

Have you tried Andy Harrison? Suspect he'll have a used one.

Re: Identifying Triumph 6 cylinder engine
MK engines are apparently Australian AMI built 1973 (before they were available in the UK) 2500 TC.
