Re: Interior Mirror Head

A bit of Googling seems to suggest that early (75-88) Jaguar XJS also used 632088, (which is interestingly where my front seats originated from).

Re: Removing clocks mk1 - How to remove feel, charge and temp

Like everything on a Mk1 dash board, they are fixed from behind, so it's a little awkward especially if you don't know what you are feeling for. Three knurled nuts on studs attached to the back of the speedo and temp/fuel/amps with little metal brackets that pull them into the dash.

Re: MK1 Heater Control Cables

I think they're basically made from piano wire so should be easy enough to make if you've got the old bent ones as a pattern. Measure the gauge and try model aeroplane shops or the internet.

Re: Spotted near Dorchester

There is a Honeysuckle 2500S that I think lives near Wareham (at least I've seen in and around Wareham a couple of times). Belongs to a club member and attends Nationals (stickers in window from recent years) but I don't think I've met the owner.

Re: Quicker Gear Change

Syncromesh on all forward gears was one of the selling points of the Triumph 2000. Don't think the 4 speed Vanguards did. Going back to the original post, the question I'd have if you are finding the throw a bit long and vague is how worn is your gearbox/linkages. The gearbox in the Mk2 I used to ha...

Re: Nice PI on eBay

Alan Chatterton spotted the ignition barrel which started the discussion on Facebook, so he wins the prize for that.
Apparently it's also got a LDLO commission number which is an even bigger clue.

Re: Nice PI on eBay

There's been some discussion about this one on Facebook. Looks like it's been converted from left hand drive. The clues are there if you look carefully. Has a LHD steering column (i.e ignition switch on the right, indicators and wipers reversed), caps covering holes where the wipers were, along with...

Re: New Wheels

I believe 7J is the widest you can go on Mk2 trailing arms and even that will involve some arch fettling depending on tyres. Chris Witor managed to fit 17×8.5J using Mk1 trailing arms "after some lip trimming & panel beating to the bowls" so I guess that's the limit of what's technically feasible. I...

Re: New Wheels

There's lots of wheels that you can potentially fit depending on budget. If you're getting new wheels then you can have whatever you fancy pretty much if you order them with the correct PCD and offset. Wheels from older Japanese cars are often the correct PCD and the correct offset (Datsun 240Z etc)...

Re: Door pillar side repeaters

I emailed Chris last year about this and he replied "Tooling for lenses is over 12k, so we are looking at our options..." As I haven't heard anything I assume it hasn't got any further. £12k does sound a lot, I'm not sure if that was all types and in both hands. I was thinking about whether it would...
