Tapping noise

I have been using 15/40 magnatec since engine rebuild, but I'm finding the oil pressure a bit low at idle with a hot engine, so I suspect 20/50 might be better.

Historic vehicles

I don't really know the answer either, but I doubt it will be done automatically.
I would suggest that as soon as it becomes tax exempt, or even a few days before, you send back the documents requesting a taxation class change.

Aerial replacement

I would assume the reason for using the headlamp hole is because you can't feed the aerial through the triangular hole? Perhaps because it is too long. ?? Is the difference in opinion because some have a longer section under wing? Perhaps not easy to find nowadays, but you do get aerials that can be...

Rear wheel cylinders

I had the same problem. I found that the slightly projecting unthreaded part of the brake union was a tiny bit wider than the hole at the bottom of the threads, so it didn't quite tighten on the pipe itself. I chamfered off the leading edge of the union a little to let it fully enter the hole in th...

Rocker cover removal on a P.I

I always managed to get the cover off without removing the injectors from the manifolds. Lift, roll towards the battery, then slide forwards. Yes you can do it without removing the injectors, but it's a bit of a pig to put back without damaging the gasket. I think it's quicker and easier just to li...

Any DVLA Experts on Here ?

I don't think you can just apply for a new log book in the original reg number either, perhaps that number is already assigned to another vehicle, either by legitimate transfer of by other means. The only way to stay out of trouble is to follow the DVLA procedure, and if that gives some club members...

Improving Airflow Through Radiator on a MK1

Don't know the answer to your question, but would it not be fair to say that because you have a fan pulling air through the radiator, the airflow might be in the opposite direction, so that the holes actually add to the cooling???

2000 mk2 estate rear axle

What Ted says is correct, but I have them on my PI, without problem. When I fitted them, I did have quite a bit of negative camber, and as stated above, the handling was terrible, and I had every intention of replacing them; however, after a couple of trips with the caravan on tow, they have settled...

starter motor types

So now you know why the bracket was the wrong way round.
Tube must be fouling the selector, long tyre lever and bid hammer required!

starter motor types

Hmm that's curious. My Mk1 is automatic, and whilst I know the Mk1 has different starter, I would have thought the attachment arrangement would be the same, but I have swopped the starter motor several times without too much difficulty. Although perhaps the position of the solenoid might be part of ...
