A type and J type are both overdrive 'boxes but different models. They do similar jobs but the parts are not interchangeable. Hope this doesn't confuse things further. :D

No matter which you choose I'd consider using a trickle charger unless you're using the car regularly .Batteries don't really like being being left partially flat.

Just be sure your brakes are adequate. They tend to get away on you if too fast down hill. :o

I did this with a Rover once. used an ice cream stick to push the shells around and pushed new ones back the same way.

OK, first of all where are you. 2nd. does the arm park on the left or right. Our one's seem to vary a bit depending on what bits they had in the parts bin. I may be able to help. Can you post a pic?

Probably 1/8 NPT or 1/8 BSP. Not really much difference at that size.

I replaced the one on the one on my Mk2 a few years ago with copper. Unless you have access to a drill press and something solid to bolt it to I'd take it to an engineering shop.A small job for someone with the right gear.Its liable to pick up on the narrow bore and throw you across the room if you ...

FWIW I have always used a Z103 filter which is fairly long, with no apparent problems. I also use Penrite 20/60 oil.
