Re: J type overdrive wiring

Recently rewired mine and removed the relay I have had for years to simplify wiring. Solenoid only draws 2 amps. Live feed from ignition to gear lever switch, other side of of switch to inhibitor switch, other side of this switch to solenoid, other side of solenoid to earth. Simple, seems to work ok...

Re: J Type Overdrive.

Success   Recently had a cortisone injection in my knee which makes it a bit more user friendly. Decided to get beneath the 2500 and attempt the removal of the overdrive which a previous 'expert' had a go at. He did fix the gearbox (new bearings etc) but seemed to fail with the o/d. He d...

Re: J Type Overdrive.

Thanks Alec, Both mine were bent, must be hydraulic pressure over the years. Found slivers of O ring on top of the piston. Gearbox good but o/d has never worked since. Have acquired a manual from Ebay, taken o/d off gearbox and took it apart. Think I've found the problem, One O ring on the operating pis...

Re: Rimmers spin on oil filter

If filters are fitted vertically I don't see the need for a non return valve.

Re: Tyre choice

Have you considered going to 14" rims? A lot of different tyre choices available here.
In the past I've used Jap. rear wheel drive wheels from the '80's . ie Mitsi Sigma etc with same pcd and off set. Now using Stag type 14" rims.

Re: Rimmers spin on oil filter

Yes, it's a Ryco. Others with 3/4" thread and similar dimensions can also be used.

Re: Oil to use

I've used {use} 20/60 in my 2500.Seems to hold better oil pressure when hot.
