I need to get a new battery for my 76 2500S as mine has given up after about 15 years life.
Interestingly its an Excide brand 096TE - 680A Cold Cranking capacity and fits (albeit snugly) without touching the alternator.
I shall be buying another 096 to replace it

Re: Longest Triumph 2000 ownership?
My Dad bought his 2000 second hand in 1977 /1978 (its a 1975 mk11 FL) and still has it to this day, Mine was bought brand new in 1976 by my late grandfather. I inherited it when I was 21 in 2004 and still have it now.

Re: Fluctuating Speedo
Hi Mike,
No I haven't checked the input drive on the speedo. When I take the dash panel out I'll grease the cable (as per smiths maintenance guide it should be greased every 10k miles) and check the speedo input.
I really hope its not the speedo, as to replace it I'll loose the tacho history

Fluctuating Speedo
Hello all, Took my 2055S out last weekend after a lay up of a couple of years and the speedo fluctuation has gotten really bad. Previously the needle would fluctuate between 25 & 35 when doing about 30, so I replaced the speedo cable. I made sure that the cable ran with nice big sweeping bends, and ...

Re: Front strut inserts
I have SPAX gas adjustable on mine.
They are great and offer adjustment on the car, via the strut top.

Re: Silicone/Braided water hoses
5 - 6 years ago I did try to set up a group buy on here for a mk11 silicon hose kit.... There was interest, but I think the price was a bit prohibative. I sent a full set of rubber hoses to a supplier and he quoted me for tooling & producing 10 sets... thats as far as it went.. I ended up buying off...

Re: Engine front plate
did this conversion on my dads mk11 earlier this year, or was it last year? can't remember....
However we didn't change the front plate, just drilled a hole in the front leg and used a lower mounting stud on the pump and fabricated a bracket from 3mm steel plate.

Starter motor
Hello all. I'm after some more advice on behalf of my dad..... He got his 2000 out of the garage this morning to wash it..... It was on the drive ticking over, when he heard an electrical motor spinning very fast.... It wasn't the electric fan, so can only be the starter...... The only way to get it...
