Re: 2500 Sump

So my 2000 sump has the drain on the LHS rear. I have available an early sump where the drain is front middle or left side rear. Since the engine slants the other way. I would think right side front or rear would be better, by maybe front middle would be ok? A picture from anyone would be wonderful ...

Re: 2500 Sump

Hiya Mike So the drain needs to be on the side? And if so, which side? I have several TR6 pans of different years. Seems to me having the drain plug on front/middle vs the left side, more oil would drain from the middle. My current 2000 pan has the drain on the left side. Witor led me to believe the...

2500 Sump

I'm almost ready to drop a late TR6 engine in my 2000. My question regards the 2500 sump. Is it angled to compensate for the slant of the engine? Putting it another way, can I simply use an early TR6 sump instead of using a 2000 sump and beating reliefs to clear the rod bolts? Is the only difference...

Re: 1966 Mk1 2000 Modifications

Guess I'll pick up the bar and other fixings and see how it's done on a Stag. Seems to me if the bar mounts where the engine cross member mounts I should be able to install using the same mounting points, but I've not seen a Stag that closely so...

Re: 1966 Mk1 2000 Modifications

Hello Mary, " My suspension is rebuilt but the car still has a lot of understeer. Are anti-sway bars available? I haven't seen any but am hopeful there is a solution. What about a strut bar? Anything would help as I really like the twisty roads. I don't expect it to handle like my TR250" Some later...

Re: 1966 Mk1 2000 Modifications

Hi Mary, I'm also States Side and have a 2000. I didn't see it mentioned specifically, but your inlet manifold on a GT6+ head won't work. You'll either have to swap heads over to the mk1 head, come up with a 2000 mk2 inlet manifold or use a gt6 manifold & have it machined to counter the 7 degree sla...

Alrighty then...let the stripping begin. I say that in the most modest manner of course :)

Mk1 A-type gearbox behind a 2500

So the plans are to swap the bad GT6 engine with a 2500 from a late TR6. My rusty Mk1 has an A-type gearbox that works great. I know the main shaft is a smaller diameter requiring the GT6 driven plate, but will the gearbox stand up to the HP gain...obviously not throw you back in your seat HP but mo...

Re: Wanted Mk1 bits that are done with headlining

Mike,

Do I have to remove the stainless trim prior to removing? If so, what's the best way? And just to clarify, I'm doing this from inside the car pushing outward correct?

And installation...do the rope/cord trick?

Regards

Todd
