Re: rear 3 cylinders running rich

Cheers Clifford,

They are SU hs6's, they were rebuilt by a specialist at time of engine rebuild. Guess could be sticking float or needle will check them. I have checked the air flow with a hose and the ear both seem to sound the same. Choke looks ok but will check again.

rear 3 cylinders running rich

Hi just back from Le Mans classic and found the engine when very hot ran on a bit after switch off. I have now checked the timing, and it was a bit advanced so adjusted it, checked the plugs and these were at 27 thou so reset to 25 thou, however I noticed that the rear 3 plugs were black and smelt a...

Oil pressure approx 70 cold and 25 hot at idle (this is read on original AC capillary gauge). It has been bored to 2600cc, Piper TR65P2TY Ultimate road cam, b...

Re: Cylinder head/head gasket?

Cheers Peter I have since found a thread on the TR forum which states that this is a fairly common problem with some gaskets as no copper seals around the oil galleries so not always fully compressed and a slight leak such as mine is not the end of the world. However I will get fed up wiping it off ...

Cylinder head/head gasket?

Hi having fully rebuilt my engine, 60 thou rebore, new cam, skimmed head etc I have run it for approx. 250 miles now and I have noticed on a few occasions some smell runs of what appears to be oil running down the side of the block from the mating face of the head and block, looking at them it also ...

Re: Rocker shaft

Cheers for that, will need to a few more miles then reset the tappets and pull head down a bit. The engine is running extremely well and feels like it should pull well once run in. Certainly better than the original AC engine.

Re: Rocker shaft

Hi I have now completed my build and have done around 200 miles, however the engine sounds a bit tappetty. I have a Piper ultimate road cam TR65PT2Y with an 2TY grind, which piper suggest 12 thou valve gap but the triumph book suggest 10 thou, should I go to 10 thou? or should the engine sound a bit...

Re: Rocker shaft

Hi just to say I've installed new shaft and rockers, great service from Dave. All is now good oil coming from all rockers and pedestals, the wear on the old shaft was quite pronounced and the shaft looked to have a lot of old oil and grime stuck in it. I have also noticed that these rockers have a s...
