Re: 2500S engine reluctant to start and barely runs.
Swapped the battery, and running 12 volts. Have you bypassed the ballast wire then? You should be using a 6v coil. The 12v coil with the ballast wire in circuit will show these symptoms. The 'S' has athe ballast resistance within the wiring loom, not like the earlier external unit bolted on the bac...

Re: 2500S engine reluctant to start and barely runs.
I would start at the coil. Is it the correct one? 6v or 12v depending whether you are using the ballast circuit or not. Have had this before when someone fitted a 12v coil on a ballast circuit. Car would go fine for about 10 miles, then start spluttering and finally stop.

Re: Vinyl dash.
Your best bet is to fit a good second hand unit, a pretty easy job. Try the usual suspects, LLoyd Reed, Andy Harrison, Roger Carnell and others.

Re: Heater refurb
The Mk2 heater is usually a pretty good unit that provides plenty of heat. The usual suspect is the control valve on the side of the unit in the drivers footwell as mentioned before. Make sure it is in the fully open position and flush both ways using the stubs that go through the bulkhead as mentio...
