This could be wrong, but I believe the only difference is in front of the front UJ. The auto having a splined female shaft, the manual having a flange. The measurement from yoke centre to yoke centre with the sliding joint compressed will show if that is correct.

The silver is Ford Argent silver. I have used VHT high temperature wheel paint. There stock number SP188 Ford Argent Silver. Available from the internet in quality rattle cans.

The wires should come out of the hollow gear lever 2/3rds of the way down the lever. Remove the gear lever surround, the black vinyl on the surface of the console, and look there.
