just interested, what was the problem in the end that was causing the high oil pressure reading but a knocking bottom end? racer ps. i have just knackered a oil press. switch, now light goes off at 50, by running very high oil press 75/80 [cold] scary, thats a lot of strain on the pump drive/spindle...

when the engine was rebuilt where the gallery plugs removed, front, side and rear? a "must" on possibly a 40+ year old engine, i would go for, like the others, a semi blocked gallery, i now always put my oil pres. gauge and switch into the tapping at the very front of the engine, after having the ma...

the reason for using atf in the carb dashpots is that the "viscosity" remains the same no matter what the temp is under the bonnet, so giving a more consistant amount of resistance to lift, unlike oil.

i have been reading the forum with some interest and i hope my findings might be of some use, firstly when i am building a new race engine i remove ALL gallery plugs, yes even those on each end, and core plugs then the block is dipped to remove all traces of upto 40 years of sludge out of the galler...
