Thanks again for the helpful replies - I think the solution then is an adaptor onto the wider centre section I have and a sourced rear section, SS or mild. Anyone got a rear section lying about? Any condition is better than the one I have - 1 7/8 outside diameter ideally.
Cheers,
Andy

Re: MkII 2000 exhaust diameters
Thanks for all the replies. I also contacted Chris Witor today who also suggested the stepped adapter approach which may be the way forward under the circumstances and given what I have available already. In future, I am indeed interested in the semi-sport system. Trying to resist firing her up to s...

MkII 2000 exhaust diameters
Hello, I pulled the shot exhaust centre section off my '73 Mk11 2000 manual saloon on Saturday hoping to replace it with a NOS one I got ahold of. It turned out the replacement was of a larger bore than the original. The original seems to be about 1 5/8", and the replacement 1 7/8". Having removed t...

Re: child seats
I fitted the same Rimmer rear set recently - the first thing I did when i got the car. Took about an hour and was a bit fiddly - a socket with a UJ helps get between the retracting unit and the rear window. All the child seats I've seen will fit these (ignore that iso-fix thing - that's for modern c...

Re: Strombergs / SUs
It was all in the needle adjuster o-rings. As a relative newby, it took me some nerve to go in there and work that out. Both were solid and stuck to the valve (the car had been stationary for a long time. One of the brass grub screws locating the needle had been screwed up tight to the needle so it ...

Re: Strombergs / SUs
Thanks Mike,
I think I'll keep the SUs as an option for later, but useful to here some support for them. I've been reading up and I'm ready to go another round with the Strombergs - they ought to be good.

Strombergs / SUs
Hello, I'm having eternal problems getting the existing Strombergs on my 1973 Mk2 2000 to run well. I've done all within my capacity and that of my neighbourhood TR6 driving mechanic. I've been offered a set of SUs, although would still need a manifold. What are the relative merits of each - Strombe...

Thank you all. Sorry for the delayed reply - I failed to switch on automatic notifications. I'll PM from here - Mike first as I fairly regularly travel to South Oxfordshire-ish.

Yikes! Any more of this and the thread will be shut down on grounds of decency.

Wanted: MKII 2000 towbar
Hello, I'm looking for a towbar for a MKII 2000 ('73). They do seem available new off the shelf, but fiendishly expensive. If anyone has an old but functional one they'd like out of the way for something a bit less than that, then I'd be delighted to hear from them. Hopefully within collecting dista...
