Drive It Day 2019

As usual, the Lancashire Group are having a run out for the annual Drive It Day on Sunday 28th April 2019, which as you all no doubt know is a FBHVC endorsed event primarily to encourage the use of classic cars on the public roads. It is a good opportunity to give your Triumph an airing at the begin...

Re: Front valence mesh

I can't answer either of the two questions, but there are several Register members who run their cars 'bumperless', and none of them use mesh in the lower air intakes. They are still quite exposed when the bumper is in situ, although not as much visually. I would presume most stones that end up in t...

Re: wanted.... o/s and n/s front wood door cappings

The front usually split if there is some water ingress through the front 1/4 light seals. Worth checking them but the ideal way is when it's raining! It also results in the bottom of the door cards rotting out too. If it's just the laquer that has lifted, then it's not an impossible task to relaquer...

Re: mk 2000 J type O/D gearbox year

You don't say why you need to establish the year of the overdrive, but from a quick search, it confirms it is on a later 2000 gearbox, but not the actual year. I would suggest contacting either Canley Classics of Coventry, or Overdrive Repair Services, Sheffield. They may be able to give you the inf...

Re: Mechanic Recommendation Mansfield area

Hi Mike, Just a couple of quick questions...well three.... How long is it since it last ran? Have you done anything to it since it last ran? Respectfully, how good is your mechanical knowledge? Depending on what the answers are to the above, then members on here may be able to point you in the right...

Re: More on prop shafts

There was a topic in which this very subject arose probably 12 - 18 months ago. I've had a quick look, but couldn't find it.
I personally don't think it makes a lot of difference - certainly not $300 worth! I have fitted both types with no noticeable differences in how the car drives.

Re: Triumph Dealers of the day

When I went on the 2006 National at Fiddington in Devon in my Carmine '2500S', on the Saturday, a Tahiti 2500TC arrived which was the consecutive registration to my 'S'. It was obviously a talking point, and a photo of the two cars next to each other appeared in SIXappeal. Supplied by the same garag...
