Re: Wanted MK1 pi Trans cooler
What was specific about a Mk1 PI auto transmission oil cooler that made it different from the 2000 and / or the Mk2 PI? Why won't a Mk2 PI transmission oil cooler fit a Mk1 PI? Just asking - curious really! Hi, There is simply no room for the MK2 oil cooler (its bigger) as the bracket that is fabri...

Re: Wanted MK1 pi Trans cooler
Thank you Ian, I checked that out and it is a home made engine oil cooler that may have been for a MK1. I spoke with Fitchetts and Witor this morning and they have nothing. It was only available on the MK1 automatic 2.5 pi and as an option, so extremely rare. However most of the Aussy and Kiwi cars ...

Re: diff nose hights
So after many years of vibration and changing every part that could contribute to the vibes and some being changed more than once, I never gave the wheel rims a thought. I run Weller rims and have done for a long time, these rims were off another 2500 which I bought and were running true as this was...

Re: Overdrive for a 2000 Mk 1
Hi Roscoe Yes it is basically a straight forward swap, I have done plenty. You will need different length spacer tubes depending on what type of overdrive box you intend fitting. Some types are compatible with Automatic tubes not sure which though. The biggest expense will be the overdrive column sw...

Re: Cross drilled crank
The archivists over on TRR have found that: All TR4s were cross drilled, but that's not a crank like this! All TR5s were cross drilled. TR6s were cross drilled, up to CP 52329 2500 engines were cross drilled until MG 10323 and they have original Triumph dealer Newsletters to prove it! So this item ...

Re: Going for twin webers
My Vitesse 1600 has twin down draughts fitted from the factory, Solex carbs if I remember rightly, I fitted a side draught twin coke Webber which made a small difference, only improved once I fitted free flow and a sportier exhaust system.

Re: diff nose hights
Many thanks Clifford for this. Yes it could be one of the joints, because it doesn't take much play in them to cause vibrations . I did change all the axle UJ's at the same time but that's not to say that one might be tighter than the rest or notchy. I have the gearbox to refit soon and will remove ...

Re: Petrol leaking from filler cap
I wont be of too much help here, my February 1964 2000 had a screw on cap, pretty sure it was that car and my other November '64 had the standard twist type.
They all tend to leak after a while as the lips on the actual steel tank necks wear with constant twist on twist off use with the caps.
