Re: Bottom radiator hose - PAS cars

If you position the hose on a certain angle and trim a slight piece to shorten it like I have done you can get away with using a standard non power steering bottom hose. Mines been on for 7 years and over 25,000 miles without issues 8)

Re: Convert TC to S spec

Did you find your ideal car yet? I converted an early MK2 2000 to S spec which was a little more involved than converting a 2500tc. I even went to the trouble of changing it from a manual to auto. It does seem to be revving its nuts off at 70 though even with the 3.45 diff and 14" hi profile tyres. ...

Re: Engine will not start.......

I''d had thought that you should have 12 volts when cranking and 8 volts when running. Have you transposed some wires  Tony. Thank you for your reply Tony, not that I know of. I was told that it could be the ignition switch and also had another suggestion on the switch. I hot wired it as inf...

Re: Engine will not start.......

Many thanks Alec. I'll check that the wirers are where there supposed to be. Maybe the wire from the ballast to the starting motor isn't up to the job anymore? 🤔
Though the ignition switch which was a possibility is no longer a possibility. 😁

Engine will not start.......

Until I release the ignition key from the cranking position. I fitted a new Ballast resister the week before the RBRR which didn't help. There is 12 volts at the coil and this drops to 8 volts while cranking. Been told it could be the ignition switch contacts at the end of the barrel? It did this ab...

Re: Project Or Just Regular Up Keep??

What I happened to notice was an oil leak!! IMG_20181024_172152 (Small).jpg Coming from the top part of the power steering rack  It didn't end there either as I carried on removing the rest of the broken drive plate, I found another oil leak :| IMG_20181024_133601 (Small).jpg What's wi...

Re: Project Or Just Regular Up Keep??

Looks like you were lucky there, and caught it just in time before it let go completely! At least it is a relatively easy fix (assuming you have a replacement flywheel of course!). So what else are you expecting to, or intending to repair? I sure was, had other plates crack but nothing as thoroughe...

Project Or Just Regular Up Keep??

Starting with a recent incident and tell tail sounds of immanent disaster, that horrid, loud, embarrassing knocking sound that comes from your car when mostly at low engine revs, but only ever noticed on an automatic version. I felt it was time to spend a little of my very little spare time and get ...
