Re: Fluctuating Speedo

This can be a common problem when the angle speedo cable adaptor is going faulty. However, your car should have a 'J' type overdrive and they didn't use the angle adaptor (on on the big saloons anyway)! Check that you've not a sharp bend in the cable route. Putting some grease down is not a bad idea...

Re: Low reading guages

I guess you need to measure the voltage coming out of the regulator. If it's an original mechanical type it should wander about a bit but average to 10V ish. I think you've fitted a new one so that will (probably) be electronic so a steady 10V. Anything less than this is a fault as is much above 10V...

Re: New potential 2000ist

Hi Matt, "P.S. despite the apologetic email, thank you for the quick account activation!" Yes, sorry about that. I tend to use the previous email and 'forward' it. As I clicked 'send' I saw the apology! So, please just ignore it! I've had big saloons since 1974 and since then had a 1500TC and a Dolo...

Re: stoneleigh, panels

Glad to hear it's coming together Lloyd. Sadly, we have another event to go to on the 11th Feb so will be missing Stoneleigh this year - the first time for quite a few years. I'm not a happy bunny! I shall have to go and have a look at your website... I hope everyone has a good day and I hope we'll ...

Re: Door catch strap

Actually Ted, I think the rear ones are not handed but the front ones are, so 'only' 3 different types! Not really relevant though because, as you say, the RH front is like rocking horse droppings anyway!

Cheers,
Mike.

Re: overdrive relay

As an aside, i think fitting a relay to a 'J' type overdrive car is a good idea. The 'inrush' current when the overdrive is operated is quite large and I expect well beyond the rating of the gear knob switch. I have had these switches fail in the past, due to (I think) excessive current! Just a thou...

Re: Rocker shaft

And don't forget to fit new small 'core' plugs in each end of the shaft - after cleaning that is!

Mike.
