Re: Engine upgrade
Hello Peter, putting a TR6 head on a 2000 engine needs a little arithmetic, as the TR engine is a 2.5 litre so 25% more volume. Quite what commpression you will get with a 2000 engine is possibly nowhere near what you might expect? You can skim the head once the chamber volume required is calculated...

Re: 2500S engine reluctant to start and barely runs.
Hello Tony, I understand that but what you tell me means it must be in that area. Coil supply voltage and polarity? Both coils from non ballast resistor cars? It is difficult to find faults with electronic distributors, but a points one is easy to check for correct function. If you have access to a ...

Re: 2500S engine reluctant to start and barely runs.
Hello Tony,
that means that it is the coil, a low voltage to it or the switching of the coil. I know you said that you used an electrconic one and a conventional one.
Both give identical results?

Re: 2500S engine reluctant to start and barely runs.
Hello Tony, going back over earlier posts, did you try the spark from the king lead compared to the plugs? Is the coil polarity correct, plus to plus and negative to distributor (Negative earth car)? I think I also mentioned the link wire between the base plate and distributor body, is that sound? A...

Re: 2500S engine reluctant to start and barely runs.
Hello Tony,
I fear that Charles has misled you a bit, you should be using a12 v coil otherwise you will overheat a ballast coil (6 v).

Re: 2500S engine reluctant to start and barely runs.
Hello Tony,
try taking the king lead out of the distributor cap and compare. If it is strong there, then it must be something cap\leads and plugs? If it is weak there then between the coil and distributor.

Re: 2500S engine reluctant to start and barely runs.
Hello Tony, do you have a multimeter, it's very useful, and will save a lot of work by passing wiring as guess work? If you are not familiar with using one, when doing voltage checks ensure the circuit is complete otherwise you will get a misleading reading, generally battery voltage. E.g. measuring...

Re: cut-outs after reving above 4500rpm
Hello Ginetta, I think we are getting a bit confused with all the inputs. You now say it is a pi engine not just that it has a pi cam.(I.e. with the higher compression ratio). There is a difference between carburettor engine and pi engine distributors, does yours have the pi distributor, from memory...
