Steering rack oil or grease
I've had issues with heavy steering on my 71 non PAS 2000 for a while, one of the reasons being a steering wheel that was too small, a Dolomite one that has now been replaced with a 2500S wheel and improved things greatly. There are also new bottom ball joints going on this weekend as they are knock...

Re: Running on!
Thanks for the replies, mentioning fuel I don't think old cars like the grade of petrol
we have today, I use Castrol valvemaster plus additive as it's an octane booster. I will certainly have a play with the idle speed settings to hopefully sort the problem.....

Running on!
My Mk2 2000 on Stromberg carbs is driving so well but runs on when the ignition is turned off, an issue which is very frustrating. I'm running on NGK BP6ES plugs, is there a hotter running plug I could use? I can't stress enough how well the car is driving apart from this running on performance. I'v...

Re: Quill shaft trouble?
Thanks for the helpful replies so far, I forgot to mention there is also a droning bearing noise from the rear when at anything over 70 mph along with the resonance issues already mentioned, which I'm guessing could be the bearings in the quill shaft housing.

Quill shaft trouble?
My 2000 has quite an unpleasant resonance coming from the rear but only when coming off or on the throttle when at motorway speeds, it's fine when maintaining a constant speed it's only when backing off or reapplying throttle the the sound happens. I thought it might be the exhaust where it passes t...

Amanda has owned our everyday modern, a base model non turbo diesel 206 for over 9years now, it's the only way to get your money's worth out of a car. Changing them every year is a sure fire way to lose lots of money. Colin That's also my philosophy on motoring Colin, 12 months ago my good lady fan...

Blowing exhaust
Hello all, I fitted a Chris Witor stainless steel sports exhaust to my MK2 2000 about a year ago which I'm very pleased with though there is a persistant problem with a slight but annoying blow where the centre pipe joins the silencer, I've resealed it several times and it's just started blowing aga...

Hi Scooters, I thought you're user name looked familiar, I'm also a regular on the 'Autoshite' forum. I've owned my first big 6 Triumph since Feb this year when I acquired it from another 'Autoshite' regular when he posted up on the forum for sale. This is an excellent forum with some extremely know...
